William H. Wiist

William H. Wiist, DHSc, MPH, MS, is a Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Northern Arizona University, and is a Senior Scientist in the Interdisciplinary Health Policy Institute. He is also a Clinical Professor of Public Health Practice at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dr. Wiist has taught university courses, published, and lectured internationally about the influence of the corporation on health and economic globalization, and is an officer of the Trade and Health Forum of the American Public Health Association (APHA.) He has conducted prevention research on cardiovascular disease, drug abuse, cancer, youth and intimate partner violence, child behavioral development, and about the health of Buddhists. He has been an administrator in a large public health department, directed a not-for-profit health agency, and provided grant proposal development to medical centers and nonprofit organizations. He holds a doctorate in health sciences and a Master’s of Public Health from Loma Linda University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh.
